Russia-2021-02-15-Russian Youth Urged to Seek Spirituality

Moscow, Russia—UPF was one of the organizers of a conference titled “The Mission of Russia.”

Public figures of culture and art, artists, scientists and social activists spoke at the conference, which took place on February 15, 2021.

The Moscow branches of UPF and its constituent association International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP) organized the conference together with the Amicability international diplomatic club and the headquarters of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) in the North-East Administrative District of Moscow.

Dr. Sergei Dvoryanov, the president of Amicability and a UPF Ambassador of Peace, drew the audience’s attention to the fact that it was an auspicious day: the feast of the Presentation of the Lord (Candlemas), which Orthodox believers celebrate on February 15.

Dmitry Samko, chairman of UPF-Moscow, appealed to the youth to seek a deep understanding of the spiritual processes of our time. He also stressed that UPF, while maintaining political neutrality, has a positive experience of cooperation with the LDPR party. For example, two LDPR members of the State Duma (the lower house of Russia’s parliament), Andrey Svintsov and Vasily Vlasov, attended the UPF World Summit in Seoul in February 2020.

The event was initiated by Pyotr Smirnov, a UPF Ambassador for Peace and an active member of the LDPR party, and Evgeny Stepkin, the coordinator of the North-Eastern branch of the LDPR.
