Bogotá, Colombia—The national inauguration of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP) was held in Luis Carlos Galán Hall in the Congress of the Republic of Colombia.
A total of 44 participants, including 10 parliamentarians, as well as religious and government leaders, attended the program, which took place on the evening of August 15, 2017.
UPF-Latin America regional chair, Rev. Sang Suek Kim, and UPF-South America president, Rev. Dong Mo Shin, spoke about the purpose of the IAPP.
Vice president of Colombia’s House of Representatives and Ambassador for Peace, Dr. Lina María Barrera, also gave remarks in which she emphasized the importance of creating initiatives, such as the IAPP, that bring together parliamentarians from around the world to help build a world of peace.
During the program, everyone enjoyed dinner, and the atmosphere was warm and harmonious.
