The International Leadership Conference on “The Significance of Marriage and Family for Peace in the 21st Century” brought together delegates from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Latvia, Mongolia, People's Republic of China, Russia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan as well as other parts of the world. People were moved in various ways by their experiences in Korea.
UPF is to become the blueprint of a new type of United Nations that unites the efforts of political, social, and religious leaders in order to solve the problems of the globe. This is a radical vision. Obviously, such a vision is necessary in our days in order to transform the world of conflicts, suffering, and poverty into a world of stable development and well being.
The hope of all humankind — to live in a unified world without conflicts or wars—is close to its realization, and how quickly it can be fulfilled depends solely on us. The Universal Peace Foundation calls us to the highest standard of governance, and this has been the great dream of all humankind as it pursues lasting peace. We desire to see humankind as one united world family.
Moscow, Russia - A January 23 conference addressed human security issues in the South Caucasus conflict zones and recommended people-to-people diplomacy as a way to resolve long-standing conflicts related to Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
UPF's South Caucasus Peace Tour in December included a variety of events and conferences in Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia that addressed various ideological and interreligious conflicts in the region.
Baku, Azerbaijan - The International Day of Peace was celebrated at the NGO Forum Office.
UPF-Eurasia launched the South Caucasus Peace Initiative in 2008 to promote dialogue and communication, engage in people-to-people diplomacy, promote interreligious cooperation and provide humanitarian assistance in the South Caucasus and adjacent areas.
UPF Azerbaijan concluded a successful meeting in Baku, Azerbaijan, on October 11, 2007, the last day of Ramadan. The event, which included a dinner for 200 participants, was sponsored and guided by Ambassador for Peace Dr Akif Kerimov, the President of "Kur Xazar." He had invited his friends to receive Ambassador for Peace certificates. As it was the last day of Ramadan, he also invited everyone to eat Holy Food in order to conclude the fast.
