Ambassadors for Peace Concert in Vietnam Celebrates Diplomatic Ties
Hanoi, Vietnam - Israeli vocalist David D’Or and American conductor David Eaton--both of whom are Ambassadors for Peace--performed with the Hanoi Philharmonic at the Hanoi Opera House as part of the “Friendship Melody” concert commemorating the 20th anniversary of Israeli and Vietnam diplomatic relations. The concert took place on April 11 and was attended by numerous diplomats and the respective ambassadors of Israel and Vietnam.
Character Education Workshop in Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - UPF-Asia conducted the second Character Education Teachers Training Workshop co-organized by the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences (VNIES) and Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Education August 28-29, 2009. Sixty school principals and elementary school teachers participated in a character education teacher-training program in preparation for the translation of the books and a one-year pilot program to be run by the VNIES.
The Problem with War
The problem with war, particularly in Vietnam, was that weapons such as napalm had no soul. If you happened to be below it you were instantly incinerated. I arrived at 1:00 am, in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) after a flight haunted by images of movies and news reports from the 1970s. I was planning to stay ten days but remained a full month.
