Chisinau, Moldova - Activists from UPF-Moldova in collaboration with the International Relief Friendship Foundation organized an international Christmas charity banquet on December 25. The event, attended by 21 philanthropists, also raised funds for charity.

Moscow, Russia - UPF's project of building and repairing bridges on Lake Baikal tourist trails won first place in the ecology category in the Volunteer 2009 All-Russia competition. The real prize, according to an organizer, was the gratitude of the people hiking the routes in greater safety.

St. Petersburg, Russia - UPF's sixth Youth Forum, on the theme of “Our Common Tomorrow,” brought together students from various universities and representatives of public organizations. The program gave participants a chance to talk about their activities and learn about the peace culture promoted by Young Ambassadors for Peace.

Pyongyang, North Korea - About 80,000 fans packed Pyongyang's Kim Il-sung Stadium to watch a friendly football match between a visiting Brazilian club and the North Korean team. The Atlético Sorocaba players held the North Koreans to a goalless draw in a tightly-contested match that was part of North Korea's preparations for next year's World Cup.

Buenos Aires, Argentina - The second Martial Arts World Cup was held at the Avellaneda Municipality in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from October 26 to November 1, 2009. A workshop was scheduled from October 26 to 30, the preliminary tournament of form and weapons was held on October 31, and the free sparring competition on November 1.

Sportsmen from all over the world came to Korea October 12-13 for the Wongu Peace Cup, an international and intercultural sports event including football, basketball, volleyball, track and field, ping-pong, badminton, and martial arts. Athletes participated in the competitions as representatives of their native countries and continents, in an atmosphere of friendship and tolerance.
