Wars are fought between States, but States are made up of individuals, individuals who most probably, deep down, did not want anything more than peace, for their families, for their children and for themselves. How come then that individuals, people like you and me, have not been able to prevent wars, neither in the past nor those which are being fought today - although in different ways and by different means?

Humanity has always sought to gather around great projects to decrease social tensions or transcend political, ethnic, or religious boundaries. This has been particularly true since second half of the twentieth century.

In 2000, 189 leaders from the world’s developed and developing countries launched an initiative to improve the lives of the world’s poorest people by eradicating poverty and its accompanying factors: hunger, disease, the lack of medical care, education, and the empowerment of women.
I convey special greetings to you from the Niger Delta Women’s Movement for Peace and Development, and I thank you for giving me the honor of making a presentation about our work. I wish to express my gratitude to the organizers of this session, which is a medium of networking for women involved in peace-building across the world.

Tokyo, Japan - On February 28, the UPF Global Peace Tour began in Japan with an International Leadership Conference, service projects, and a main program. Former US Congressman Rev. Walter Fauntroy spoke of the rise of the Obama era and hopes for bringing together people of different religions, nationalities, and cultures.
We must seriously remind ourselves that in God we shall stand to survive, but in the insane acts of violence we shall perish. Let us pick ourselves up in the spirit of purpose-centeredness, deep commitment and build a nation second to none. May God help the GNU and bless us all as Zimbabweans, to reach greater heights and all aim to work for genuine freedom, democracy and prosperity.
