We all want world peace, not for us, but for the generations that will follow us, so that they will be able to live happily, quietly and peacefully after we have departed from the world. I do believe that if we, the religious leaders, can unite, the world will be united in turn.
Today, it has become an urgent necessity to provide avenues to build world peace through understanding different cultures and religions, because the religious and ethnic conflicts in the world today have their roots in the misunderstanding of religious beliefs and misinterpretations of sacred texts.
The critical question is how we can make sure that the fundamental values that should guide the political processes in the world—respect for human dignity, peace, justice, freedom, tolerance, participation, solidarity, and sustainability—can be maintained in times of change. No compromises can be made concerning these basic values.
It is important in this holy place to emphasize the absolute necessity of the true and common relationship between religious leaders and political leaders, because they together can serve humanity in their societies in every place and time.
What is required of all the religions and all the religious leaders today is to learn to recognize, to understand, to admit and to accept the teachings and the ways of life of other religions. To be more understanding, more generous and more inclusive is what we need to achieve.
In the name of the Almighty we call upon the leaders and people to reject violence and come together in open dialogue for peace and cooperation. We call on the Korean people and the world community to recognize it is time to awaken our hearts
I appeal to those of you who are young and have your life ahead of you—do not abandon your dream or give up hope. However little we achieve, we and the world are the better for our efforts.
We can no longer remain in the night but must prepare to greet a new morning, which is the marriage blessing through True Parents. It is the true family movement. The world that all humankind wishes for today is a united world centered on God, which begins from a true family.
We will be victorious in Christ Jesus, more than conquerors through the spirit of unity in decreeing and declaring peace for Korea and the world, and not war.
Those of us gathered here today are being called by God to finish the work of building peace and freedom that was begun by Rev. and Dr. Moon.
Religious values are deeply intertwined with the fabric of our daily lives, and every faith organization plays a major role in our communities. It is the responsibility of faith leaders to help improve the human condition. As faith leaders, we are called upon to find creative ways to reach out to those who are suffering.
We, women, know that our faith is a firm foundation. Holy Scripture and even history prove that evil will not endure. Evil will be overcome by prayer, by perseverance and by doing good.
