Abuja, Nigeria -UPF Global Peace Council member Ernest Shonekan addressed an October 4 conference in Abuja  on "Shelter and Urban Renewal," in commemoration of World Habitat Day. World Habitat Day is a day set aside for commemoration by the United Nations Human Settlement Programme (UN-HABITAT), to ensure that everyone in the world lives in decent houses and environment.

Tokyo, Japan - A victory celebration for July International Leadership Conference in Nigeria was held in Chiba city on September 18 by the organization of Nigerian members of UPF in Japan, with the support of UPF-Japan. The Nigerians expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the people in Japan who supported the events in Abuja.

UPF joined thousands of NGOs and civil society organizations in 66 nations around the world to celebrate the United Nations International Day of Peace, September 21, 2011. That same week, the leaders of nations gathered in New York for the opening of the 66th United Nations General Assembly, a session that, once again, brought many seemingly intractable situations before the world body. More than ever, there is a need for fresh ideas and insights into the “things that make for peace.”
