Argentina—The 2021 Cycle “Interreligious Dialogue and Good Practices” was brought to a close at a meeting on November 24, 2021, with positive testimonies and comments from participants. The Cycle took place from June to October organized by the Interreligious Association for Peace and Development (IAPD) and UPF-Argentina together with Youth and Students for Peace (YSP) from Argentina. It was held by Zoom and was broadcast on the UPF-Argentina YouTube channel (1).

First, there was an international greeting from Dr. Simón Ferraboli, secretary general of UPF South America. Prof. Emanuel Sayavedra, president of Youth and Students for Peace (YSP) of Argentina, presented a video of the 2021 Cycle “Interreligious Dialogue and Good Practices” (3).
The meeting was moderated by members of IAPD Argentina: Inderveer Kaur, representative of the Sikh Dharma Argentina Community; and Dr. David Frol, bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Miguel Werner, president of UPF Argentina, made final comments and invited participants to participate in the Argentina Peace Road 2021, with the video “World of Peace” (4).
The purpose of the Cycle of “Interreligious Dialogue and Good Practices” was “to value the dialogue and good practices that arise from different interreligious tables in the country. Revalue spirituality by providing meaning to develop good actions. Serve as a training space for peaceful coexistence and the common good” in societies that have become increasingly multi-religious, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic.
On the occasion, certificates were given to the participants in the six interreligious tables held monthly from June to October. Also receiving certificates were four participants who met the requirements to attend the Cycle, which had more than 60 registrants from different Argentine provinces and also from other countries: Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, the United States, Paraguay and Peru.
“It seems to me that the commitment and work that they have carried out during the year has enormous value. I appreciate it and it would be nice to continue it next year,” expressed Rosa Monti, of the Archdiocesan Commission for Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue of Tucumán on behalf of the Table for Interreligious Dialogue of Tucumán.
“I think it is very valuable that they have been able to sustain it systematically throughout the year. That shows serious and committed teamwork,” said a participant in the October Table of the Northwest Region of Argentina. He also reflected on “the fraternal network that was being established,” the possibility of “continuing to grow in mutual knowledge, which is a permanent enrichment,” that religious representatives from all over Argentina have participated and that “the effort that was made will remain,” because the meetings have been recorded (2).
Also sharing their experiences and reflecting on the Cycle were Liliana Escala, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Susana Segovia, Minister of the Church of Scientology, coordinators of Ladies in Interreligious Dialogue (City of Buenos Aires); Cristina Mirabelli, from the Nuestra Señora de la Guardia Parish (Florida), a representative of the Interreligious Group for Dialogue and Coexistence (Buenos Aires Region); Silvina Salinas de Rico, Director of Public Affairs and Communication for the Resistance Multistake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, member of the Chaco Province Interreligious Table (Northeast Region); Paula Romero, Director of Worship for the Israelite Benevolent Society of San Juan, and Héctor Allende, President of Justice and Peace in San Juan, both from the Provincial Interreligious Board of San Juan (Central Region); and Darío Fernández Cuadrado, from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a member of the Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue Table of La Pampa (Patagonia Region).
“I thank the organizers and participants of the interreligious tables “for their love and dedication to build this world with love and peace, which is the message they transmitted.... I think it has really been a great learning experience, especially the example that I carry … love for God and neighbor, which I saw reflected in each and every one of the interreligious dialogue tables…,” said one of the Cycle participants who received an attendance certificate, Carla Itatí Pérez, a member of Youth and Students for Peace (YSP) from the city of Sáenz Peña, in the northern province of Chaco.
Also sharing their thoughts and the value of what they learned were participants Andrea Fernández Bevans, member of the Communication Council of the City of Buenos Aires Region of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; Nélida Samanta Reales, from the Diocesan Dialogue Commissions of La Rioja and Catamarca; and Cecilia Goldar Davison, from Serve Now Argentina, City of Buenos Aires.
