UPF-Peru Observes UN International Day of Peace

Lima, Peru—On October 10, 2023, UPF-Peru observed the UN International Day of Peace 2023 in the auditorium of the Casa Ramón Castilla, Lima, Peru. (Ramón Castilla Marquesado was President of Peru in 1845-1851, 1855-1862 & 1863.)
The program began with the emcee, Mr. Hugo Falla Delgado, announcing a minute of silence, which was followed by a prayer for World Peace by Bishop Friar Aparicio Fuentes Guizado, member of IAPD-Peru.
Brigadier General of the Peruvian Army, Herrmann Hamann Carrillo, president of the Liberator Institute Ramón Castilla, inaugurated the celebration. Following his speech, he was presented with the “Leadership and Good Governance” Award for excellence in institutional leadership, integrating professional excellence and practical wisdom with moral and spiritual principles.
Dr. Trevor Jones, president of UPF-Peru, spoke from London giving his words of welcome to all those present, especially the new Ambassadors for Peace. He emphasised the need to continue our work in these trouble times and his hope that the new Ambassadors could all contribute to our mission.
The UN Declaration for the International Day of Peace was read by the journalist ambassador, Nora María Rodríguez Herencia.
Next, the senior ambassador of the Peruvian Army, César Augusto Mendoza Egoavil, president of the Peruvian Battalion-Nobel Peace Prize Association, gave a message and greeting to those present for the International Day of Peace.
The first panellist was Dr. Juan Álvarez Vita, career ambassador in the Diplomatic Service of Peru, who gave his presentation on the topic: “The Importance of the International Day of Peace.” The second panellist was former Congressman Dr. Pastor Orestes Sanchez Luis, who gave his presentation on the topic: “Peace from the Heart of God.”
In the second part of the program, a ceremony was held for the incorporation of new Ambassadors for Peace, including well-known professionals from various fields, including distinguished local officials.
Mrs. Mónica Tello López, mayor of the Pueblo Libre District, was recognized as Ambassador for Peace and she gave an encouraging message for national and world peace. Mr. Jorge Yomar Espinoza García, mayor of C. P. San Martin de Porres, district of San José, province of Pacasmayo, department of La Libertad, was also appointed Ambassador for Peace.
Before concluding the celebration program, words of congratulation were heard from the esteemed Ambassadors for Peace:
- Fausto Pérez Villarreal, social communicator journalist, secretary of the Association of Sports Journalists of Colombia Acord
- Eng. Salomón García García, a writer and currently training instructor at the Federal Electricity Commission in Mexico
- Dr. Zenobio Rigoberto Saldivia Maldonado, director of the Department of Humanities, Santiago-Chile Metropolitan Technological University
The program concluded with the presentation of awards to the panellists, and Mr. Jaime Fernández Túpac, secretary general of UPF-Peru, gave some closing remarks on behalf of Dr. Trevor Jones, executive president of UPF-Peru. Lic. Hugo Falla Delgado as emcee closed the important celebration of the UN International Day of Peace 2023.
