Buenos Aires, Argentina—UPF, along with more than 1,000 students, educators, and representatives of different schools throughout Argentina, attended the third International Meeting of Sister Schools in San Clemente del Tuyú, Buenos Aires province from August 22-23, 2015. Mr. Miguel Warner and his wife, Alba Luz, represented UPF at the two-day event, which was organized by new Ambassador for Peace, Ms. Elena Paniagua, who leads Escuelas Hermanas (Sister Schools).
The first “Meeting of Words for Peace” took place at the event. An olive tree was planted, and a dinner was organized to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Sister City Association of San Clemente, where UPF gave the Universal Peace Flag to Dr. Juan de Jesus, deputy of the municipality of La Costa, and Mr. Mario Caceres, a writer from the town of Dolores. Afterwards, three Japanese volunteers—Ms. Ikumi Sasaki, Ms. Yui Takajashi, and Ms. Reina Kawanami—sang a song in Japanese. Cultural dances were also performed and artwork was also exhibited at the event.
