Dhaka, Bangladesh—Building on the South Asia Peace Initiative, UPF-Bangladesh organized a seminar on the theme “Raising Public-minded Leaders” at Dhaka University on August 12. Fifty-five people participated in the event, whose guests included Principal Sukumor Barua, head of the Gurudwara Management Committee.
The program began with interreligious prayers, offered by Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist leaders. Dr. Kazi Nurul Islam, executive director of UPF-Bangladesh, gave opening remarks, which was followed by a video about UPF. Mr. Tika Bishwakarama, a young leader from Nepal who is leading the Initiative with the support of UPF-Nepal vice chair Mr. Santosh Paudel, spoke about UPF’s activities, with a special focus on South Asia.
Several participants shared their experience attending a South Asian Peace Seminar in Nepal last year.
Principal Barua closed the program, after which a bouquet of flowers was offered to him.
