Tokyo, Japan - A year and a half since the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, Japan is on its way to reconstruction and revitalization, and peoples’ life is gradually going back to normal. However, many people are still suffering from the aftermaths of the disaster, especially the disaster caused by the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant accident.
UPF-Japan invited Amb. Tetsuya Endo, an experienced expert on nuclear power plants, as a keynote speaker for its 15th Peace Diplomats Forum on July 18, 2012, on the theme “Lessons of Fukushima” with the participation of 28 senior diplomats from foreign embassies in Japan, some Japanese parliamentarians, and leaders of various fields
Amb. Endo is a former Chairman of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and a Commissioner of the Independent Investigation Commission on the Fukushima Nuclear Accident, which is a civilian project staffed by nuclear experts to conduct its own investigation separately from the investigation committees of the Japanese government and Diet.
