There is great need for moral and ethical education generally in today’s society, particularly in our nation, Nigeria. Why this is so can be understood by reflecting briefly on current social conditions and then more specifically the manner in which education has contributed to them.

G.M. Oguire: Education through Service in Building a Culture of Peace

Saturday, September 21, 2013
Written by: George M. Oguire, Vice President, Family Federation for World Peace and Unification-Nigeria

The topic that I have been asked to speak on is highly loaded with concepts, and each of those concepts can stand on its own as a major theme. The Role of Education is one vast theme. Building a Culture of Peace is another. Interfaith Harmony, National Integration, National Development; these can each stand as major themes. And we have to discuss them from Christian, Islamic and Unification perspectives. It is a huge task to be accomplished in a single presentation.

As I look at our world, I, too, can feel the pain that God must feel as he witnesses the degradation and sinfulness of human beings. God, our Heavenly Parent, created this world with a clear ideal in mind. At the very center of this ideal was the parent-child relationship.

I. Panjwani: Need for New Models of Interfaith Dialogue in a Multicultural Climate

Sunday, June 30, 2013
Written by: Imranali Panjwani, Tutor and Ph.D. Candidate in Theology & Religious Studies, King’s College London, UK

Overall, there needs to be a significant change in the way religious communities tackle interfaith dialogue. In my humble experience, the majority of models currently implemented by faiths are limited, passive, and sometimes, expensive. Let us go back to the spiritual messages of Prophets and saints and use their ethos to really provide solutions to humanity rather than only treating these messages ceremoniously. Perhaps then some of the important objectives of multiculturalism can be realized.

T.I. Hamad: Statement at the Celebration of Africa Day

Wednesday, June 26, 2013
Written by: Tageldin Ibrahim Hamad, Secretary General, Universal Peace Federation

Education of the heart and intellect, the strengthening of marriage and family, and interfaith dialogue and cooperation are essential in developing an African Renaissance. Renaissance means rebirth. This concept of rebirth has been used to describe a new outburst of intellectual and artistic creativity, and, at the same time, it is commonly used as a term to describe a spiritual awakening. I believe both are necessary and equal parts of an African Renaissance.
