Jerusalem, Israel - On May 15 the UN International Day of Families was celebrated at the picturesque Rose Gardens in front of the Knesset parliament buildings in downtown Jerusalem, with the theme: "Creating a World of Peace, One Family at a Time."
Around 50 people attended this event including Ambassadors for Peace, journalists, and a number of Israeli families representing various nationalities. Everyone shared a delicious lunchtime picnic of international food, followed by sports and games. A Declaration on Families was signed by all who attended, reaffirming the UN resolution 52/81 about the need to strengthen and support families in performing their societal and developmental functions. Photos were taken with the Knesset in the background flying the flag of Israel.
