Ukraine - The “Mom, Dad, Me – Sporty Family” all-Ukrainian Festival finals were held May 14 to 17 in the picturesque Crimean peninsula. The activities were organized by the “Sports for All” all-Ukrainian center for the population’s physical health and by the Universal Peace Federation under the initiative of the Peace Dream Foundation.
The all-Ukrainian “Mom, Dad, Me – Sporty Family” Festival was held in all regions of Ukraine. The Festival’s finals coincided with the International Day of Families announced by the UN. The festival seeks to raise public awareness about setting family traditions of physical training and sports activity, strengthening the psychological and emotional relationships in families by uniting their efforts to reach common goals. It motivates parents to encourage their children through their personal example to systematically practice physical culture and sports.
Besides the bright feelings of happiness and aspirations to gain a victory, the participants could feel unity with nature, the warmth of the Crimean sun, and the freshness of the sea breeze. They set new peaks which they will seek to go over in the future.
Families consisting of a father, mother, and child born between 1998 and 2000 were accepted as participants in all stages of the festival. The participating families competed in test of agility and accuracy, complex relay races, a sports quiz, a table hockey tournament, and team presentations.
This year the Festival brought together almost 1,000 participating families and over 10,000 spectators. The participating families totally enjoyed the Festival and their stay on the Black Sea.
All participants received awards at the end of the Festival, and the three top winners received gifts of home training equipment.
