Kiev, Ukraine - On May 14, on the occasion of International Day of Families, Universal Peace Federation-Ukraine, organized a round-table discussion for Ambassadors for Peace on Family-friendly Society as the Foundation of Lasting Peace.
About 40 Ambassadors for Peace representing various segments of Ukrainian society attended the event: politicians, NGO representatives, scientists, educators, and artists.
The meeting was led by the UPF Chairman of Ukraine, Korsun Igor. Deputy Chairman of UPF-Ukraine, Ilyin Mykhaylo gave the welcoming speech. He conveyed the major vision of UPF and its founder Dr. Sun Myung Moon and invited the Ambassadors for Peace to intensify their efforts to proclaim family values.
The round-table participants received background materials on the ideal of existence, main problems of conflicts, and principles of restoration prepared by UPF, which included lecture texts and presentations. During previous events, the Ambassadors for Peace had expressed a desire to get these materials in order to use them in their work.
During the discussion, a protocol specialist and Advisor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Naumenko Galyna spoke on Ethical Principles of a Healthy Society: Historical and Cultural Aspects, and shared about family and moral values from the historical viewpoint.
Ambassador for Peace, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, Professor Melnyk Vasul, who attended the last international conference hosted by UPF in Seoul, Republic of Korea, shared his experience on the subject of Family Values Revival: International Experiences.
Sedykh Yuriy, Ambassador for Peace, professor, and President of the NGO International Cooperation, talked about Ways of Creating a Family-friendly Society.
During the discussion the participants decided to hold a series of events to improve the education of the young generation on spiritual and moral standards and promote the revival of family values.
