Riga, Latvia - On May 15 a celebration of the International Day of Families took place in the Peace Embassy in Riga. Forty people attended, among them distinguished social activists of Latvia: the chairman of the African Latvian society Alain Zodegan, the chairman of the Latvian society of multiple families, and others. Among the respected guests were also the elderly couple Valdemar and Yonna Shponberg, who have been married for 60 years. They shared their amazing family experiences and gave some guidance to young people.

UPF-Latvia president Mr. Leons Bojars briefly talked about the history of the founding of the Day of Families and emphasized the importance of many projects designed to strengthen the institutions of marriage and family.

Vadim Bolshakov gave a presentation on family values and the World Peace Blessings, which are a key facet of the Unification Movement.

The official part finished with a musical performance.

Also on the Day of Families was a photo exhibition by Ambassador for Peace Margers Martinson portraying the maturing and development of his own family and children’s achievements.

The participants enjoyed the very warm and friendly atmosphere of the celebration, which helped them believe that creating one united human family is possible!
