Brazzaville, Congo - On Sunday, May 15, in the Conference Room of the Phoenix Hotel in Brazzaville, 80 people including children, Ambassadors for Peace, and journalists attended the celebration of International Day of Families organized by UPF-Congo.
After the opening remarks by Secretary General of UPF-Congo Rev. Michel Ndolo, the UN Secretary-General's message was read by a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Congo, Mr. Jeannot Moukilat. The UPF statement was read by Mr. Jean Tshibanda, Secretary General of UPF in the city of Brazzaville.
Following these messages, an exchange on the topic “Addressing Poverty by Strengthening Families” took place. Rev. Ndolo took this opportunity to explain the role of the family in terms of the UPF and its founder, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon, with an emphasis on purity of lineage.
Finally, four couples who have been married for 20 years received a certificate of congratulations.
UPF was the only organization in the Congo to celebrate this day; therefore, this event was covered on many radio and television stations.
