Dakar, Senegal - UPF-Senegal held an outdoor conference on the International Day of Families on the theme of "The Health of the Family" in Dakar on May 16.
Speakers included Mr. Déthie DIOUF, Chairman of UPF-Senegal, and Mrs. Diago NDIAYE, Ambassador for Peace and Technical Advisor of the Ministry of Women, Family and National Solidarity. Mr. Mbaye DIOP, Secretary General of UPF-Senegal, served as MC.
In all the country of Senegal, the UPF national chapter was the only organization to celebrate the International Day of Families. So even though there was not a large number of participants, about ten media reporters came to cover the event. It was very surprising for us to see this happening. Mr. Diop was interviewed on television, and two channels gave major coverage to the conference.
Also, since our Ambassadors for Peace visited the Japanese embassy to offer condolences to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami, UPF is becoming more visible in Senegal. People are saying that UPF is setting a good national example. For example, a few days after our visit to the Embassy of Japan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs went to the Embassy of Japan and gave them a donation of behalf of the government.
