Day of Families Observed in Chisinau

Chisinau, Moldova - The UN International Day of Families was celebrated in Chisinau under the slogan “The Traditional Family Guarantees Future Prosperity” in a variety of events from May 9 to 14. In organizing the celebration of the UN International Day of Families, the Family Federation for World Peace and Unity and the International Relief and Friendship Foundation joined the Universal Peace Federation and a number of NGOs in drawing the attention of the community to the challenges facing the traditional family and ways to address them.
May 9 - Interfaith prayers for the families of Moldova
Among the 27 participants in interfaith prayers were followers and leaders of four groups: the Lutheran Church, the Orthodox Church, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, and the Unification Church.
The benevolent attitude of the majority was evidence of the potential for interfaith cooperation in Moldova, whereas the provocative statements of the other participants pointed out the need for more interfaith dialogue.
May 10 - Exhibit of products promoting family health
Nine companies participated introduced products promoting the physical and emotional well-being of families. There were 50 participants.
May 11 - Seminar on "The Family as the Cell of the Community”
A seminar on "The Family as the Cell of the Community" was held in cooperation with Chisinau University. There were 16 participants, mostly students. They enthusiastically committed themselves to participate in promoting ideas about the importance of the family.
May 12 - Seminar on "The Happy Family”
A seminar on "The Happy Family" was attended by 11 participants, who expressed their desire to promote the idea of harmonious relations in marriage.
May 13 - International conference on “Traditional Families Guarantee Us Prosperity in the Future”
Nine speakers at an international conference gave detailed perspectives on the traditional family. Among the speakers were two Ambassadors for Peace of Moldova, Otilia Stamatin and Marin Masur. There were 23 participants.
May 14 - Family celebration
A family celebration organized for children and their parents and aimed at promoting good relations between the generations. They were given an opportunity to participate together in an interactive and entertaining game.
