Almaty, Kazakhstan - UPF-Kazakhstan organized a one-day seminar in commemoration of the International Day of Families in Almaty on May 12 on the theme “The Family as a School of Love and Peace.” Participants included Ambassadors for Peace, members of the African Union of Kazakhstan, and young families.
The message of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the theme of “Ensuring Work-Family Balance” was read.
The exciting lecture with a PowerPoint presentation on “The Family as a School of Love and Peace” was given by UPF-Kazakhstan Secretary General Sergey Chuprakov. He presented a vision of the family as the primary human institution which is considered sacred by religions throughout the world. This presentation explored how people grow in love through family relations and learn to relate with others as members of the broader human family. The World Peace Blessing was introduced as a public commitment to honoring the oneness of the human family.
A group discussion stimulated all participants to think deeply about questions such as how building a loving family is connected to and can result in the building of peaceful society and world and also how fidelity in conjugal love can nurture the spiritual growth of parents and children and decrease social problems in modern society.
Participants were deeply moved by the profound musical performance of a 16-year-old pianist, Saltanat, who played three compositions.
