Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo - A program on the theme of Balancing Work and Family took place at the Hotel Hilary in Pointe-Noire on May 15. Among the 150 guests were top executives of UNICEF and United Nations Population Fund, a bishop of the Old Catholic Church, diplomats, government officials, and representatives of numerous civil society associations.
Mrs. F. MABIKA, representing UNICEF Pointe-Noire, read the International Day of Families message by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. After being appointed an Ambassador for Peace, she said, "It is an honor to be an Ambassador for Peace. I thank you for your initiative to help families of the world to unite around an ideal, which is God's will."
Certificates were presented to couples who have been married for 20 years.
