UPF organized International Day of Families events during May in Kinshasa and Kinzau Mvete. The theme of the programs was "Marriage and Family as Instruments of Peace."
On this occasion the UPF presented Certificates of Marital Merit to couples who have lived a monogamous married life and have a good reputation in their community. They were selected primarily by churches whose leaders are Ambassadors for Peace. The couples completed an education program on marriage and family.
In Kinshasa, the Certificate of Marital Merit was issued to nine couples selected from two churches whose spiritual leaders are Ambassadors for Peace:
- The Church of Christ the Light of the Holy Spirit in Congo of the Patriarch Moise KAYUWA (5 couples)
- The Church of Jesus of Apostle NKUNA MUSUNGAY (4 couples)
The oldest had lived together for 60 years and the youngest for 25 years. The ceremony was organized at the Lusay High School in Matete.
