UN International Day of Families 2012

Day of Families Observed in Paramaribo

Paramaribo, Suriname - UPF-Suriname celebrated the International Day of Families on May 15 with 35 Ambassadors for Peace in attendance. Speeches were given by Mr. Roel Rotgans, head of the Family Federation for World Peace-Suriname; Mr. Ramon de Freitas, former Head of the Officers of Justice; Mr. and Mrs. Denny Ristie, Secretary General of UPF-Suriname; and Mrs. Ingrid Wouden, Advisor to the Minister of Social Affairs.

Mrs. Ristie and Mrs. Wouden spoke about the Family as the School of Love and Training Field of the Heart. Mr. Denny explained how the perfection of the individual and family can promote national well-being and a world full of happiness. He encouraged the audience to take responsibility to rise above difficulties and become people of true love.

There was a good spirit at the meeting, and people said they look forward to further activities.
