Nairobi, Kenya - The annual commemoration of the UN International Day of Families was celebrated in Nairobi organized and hosted by UPF Kenya chapter in partnership with the Family Federation for World Peace and the Women's Federation for World Peace. The event was held in the Peace House, the UPF Kenya Headquarters on May 17, 2014 focusing on the theme: “Families Matter for the Achievement of Development Goals."
The program began with interfaith representative prayers and a presentation of songs by the youth. A poem read by one of the youths on the role of the family beyond religion, race and geographical boundaries set the tone for the event.

Ambassador for Peace Prof. Jared Onyari read the speech of the UN Secretary-General. Among the topics presented were “Marriage and Family” and "The Role of Women in the Family."
