Bridgetown, Barbados - The Barbados National Peace Council commemorated the International Day of Families with a gathering at a Hindu temple, a seminar and a Sunday church service May 14-18, 2014.
There was an interfaith gathering at the Hindu temple on May 14 for a celebration of Purima (the full moon festival)..On May 17, there was a seminar on drug abuse prevention held at the Ministry of Education. A Sunday service on May 18 at the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification headquarters emphasized the importance of the family. "A house is not a home," Rev. Peter Phillips said, emphasizing the importance of cultivating a happy family in making a house a home.. A set of Korean study materials was given to Kimia Hamshaw, winner of a scholarship to study at Sun Moon University in Korea.
