Jhapa, Nepal—To commemorate the UN International Day of Families 2016, UPF-Nepal organized seven “Peace Blessing and Ideal Families” events in seven provinces. Some 400 people participated, including 56 couples.
The events took place in Jhapa district (in Province No. 1), Sarlahi district (Province No. 2), Banepa municipality (Province No. 3), Pokhara city (Province No. 4), Nepalgunj sub-municipality (Province No. 5), Surkhet district (Province No. 6), and Kailali district (Province No. 7).
The program in Jhapa included opening remarks by Mr. Binod Dangi, secretary general of UPF-Nepal; interfaith prayers, offered by representatives of different faiths; and an interfaith water ceremony.
At the event in Sarlahi, a presentation was given on the topic of the family and an interfaith water ceremony was held.
New Ambassadors for Peace were appointed at the program in Banepa, which also included an interfaith water ceremony.
In Pokhara, the third largest city in Nepal, Mr. Prakash Babu Thapa, president of the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP)-Nepal, an affiliated organization, spoke on “Family for World Peace,” and new Ambassadors for Peace were appointed.
The President of the Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), Mr. Krishna Prasad Shrestha, gave the keynote address at the program in Nepalgunj, a sub-municipality in Banke district near Nepal’s southern border with India. In addition, faith representatives participated in an interfaith water ceremony and new Ambassadors for Peace were appointed.
A cultural program was a highlight at the event in Surkhet, and in Kailali, Mr. Nabin Jaisi spoke on the topic of the family.
