UN International Day of Families 2017

International Day of Families Celebrated in Taiwan

Taiwan-2017-05-15-International Day of Families Celebrated in Taiwan

New Taipei City, Taiwan—Ambassadors for Peace and members of UPF-Taiwan celebrated the UN International Day of Families and Mother’s Day on May 15, 2017.

Mr. Tuo-Huan Chen, secretary general of UPF-Chinese Region, spoke on the 2017 theme of the Day, “Families, education and well-being." He underlined that the most critical issue in society today is the breakdown of families and addressing the many social problems that exist. Children in broken families have needs that are not sufficiently met. Mr. Chen emphasized that the International Day of Families is a day when parents can re-affirm their commitment to raising children based on best practices—including providing parental love; not arguing in front of children; and living an exemplary lifestyle, which is the best education for children. Children’s well-being can be ensured in this way.

A chorus comprised mostly of youth sang a song and a group of children also sang a song as well as performed a simple dance for Mother’s Day.
