Korça, Albania—About 120 guests attended a UPF conference held in honor of UN International Day of Families with the theme “The Importance of Family Values in an Era of Global Crisis.”
Among the many values that UPF promotes, promoting the family is of prime importance. UPF views the family as the center of society, maintaining that the family is the school of love, where one’s character is formed and relationships start that later develop and expand to the level of society.
The conference was held on May 26, 2017, in cooperation with Korça University’s Faculty of Human and Natural Sciences. UPF Ambassadors for Peace and other distinguished individuals from civil society, NGOs, education, and other fields were among the attendees.
The conference discussed the history and path of the family, views toward the family throughout the years, children’s education, juridical rights for children’s protection, and leadership in education. The UPF views on the family were described, as were the views of various religions.
This conference was made possible by European supporters of UPF and its affiliated organization, the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU). In particular, UPF-Albania is grateful to a team from Switzerland that arrived in Korça before the conference to help with its organization.
The event concluded with the attendees offering their impressions and with the appointment of four new Ambassadors for Peace: Dr. Gjergji Pendavinji, Dr. Mangalini Vampo, Dr. Kozeta Apostoli, and the well-known actor Andrea Pepi.
