Pristina, Kosovo—The importance of strong families was the subject of UPF Peace Council meetings in two cities of Kosovo on May 16 and 17, 2022.
On the occasion of International Day of Families, UPF invited two guest speakers from neighboring Albania: the co-authors of the book 21st Century Families and Universal Values.
Dr. Saemira Pino, a former Albanian deputy minister of education and the chair of UPF’s Academic Commission for Peace, and Gani Rroshi, secretary general of UPF for Albania and the Balkans, traveled first to the southeastern city of Ferizaj. On the next day, they visited the city of Peja in the west of Kosovo.
Ferizaj
The first event was held on May 16 at the University of Applied Sciences, Ferizaj. Ejona Icka, the secretary general of UPF-Kosovo, was the moderator.
Professor Dr. Agron Bajraktari, rector of the University of Applied Sciences, Ferizaj, and Binak Ulaj, chairman of the General Council of UPF-Kosovo, offered words of welcome.
Mexhide Mjaku-Topalli, president of the UPF Regional Council of Ferizaj, and Dr. Burim Meta, a member of the Assembly of Kosovo’s Committee on Health and Social Welfare, presented comments on the book 21st Century Families and Universal Values.
Then the authors, Dr. Saemira Pino and Gani Rroshi, spoke about their book.
A very important part of the meeting was the appointment of some honored personalities of the Ferizaj Region with the title of Ambassador for Peace.
The event closed with a performance of the song Mother, which was composed especially for this day by the honorable Ambassador for Peace Ramadan Ramadani. It was sung beautifully by the Ferizaj Girls' Choir under the wonderful direction of Ambassador for Peace Professor Lindita Isufi.
Peja
The second event was held on May 17 at the Faculty of Law of Haxhi Zeka University, Peja. Dr. Enkeleda Lulaj, the vice president of the UPF Regional Council of Peja and a pedagogue at Haxhi Zeka University, was the moderator.
The welcoming speech was given by Professor Dr. Edmond Beqiri, vice rector of Haxhi Zeka University.
Professor Mehrije Hoti, president of the UPF Regional Council of Peja, and Dr. Dardan Lajçi, a sociologist at the Faculty of Law of Haxhi Zeka University, commented on the book 21st Century Families and Universal Values.
Then the authors, Dr. Saemira Pino and Gani Rroshi, spoke about the book.
The chief imam of the Islamic community in Peja, the director of culture, youth and sports of Peja, the dean of the Faculty of Law, professors and other personalities of the city of Peja attended the meeting.
The event closed amid congratulations on the wonderful work of the authors.
