UPF-Italy Observes International Day of Families

Almè, Italy—UPF and an affiliated organization commemorated International Day of Families with an evening called "How to Build a Happy Family."
The event in the civic hall of Almè, a town in northern Italy’s Bergamo Province, on June 16, 2022, was held in collaboration with the local chapter of Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP).
The opening greeting was offered by youth policy councilor Michele Milesi, representing the mayor and the city administration. UPF-Italy President Carlo Zonato and WFWP-Bergamo President Giannina Figus Ravaglioli then introduced the meeting.
Both emphasized how much the family represents the core and central value for building a culture of peace. It is the first cell where love is cultivated and developed, maturing according to entirely natural stages: filial, fraternal, conjugal, and parental love. A concrete life and relationship experience is fundamental to the emotional, relational and character maturation for each individual person. Moreover, stable and happy families represent a central value for social good and harmony.
The central theme of the meeting was entrusted to Dr. Onorina Gibi, a family psychologist and psychotherapist, who addressed step by step all the typical situations that characterize the path of building family experience: from the stage of falling in love to the stage of deciding to start life as a couple; from the consolidation of the experience of living together to the decision to have children together.
The audience followed the discussion with interest, offering a number of questions and further insights. A desire was also expressed to be able to continue at a later date with further specific meetings focused on the different dynamics of family experience.
