On United Nations International Volunteer Day, Dec. 5, 2008, Global Peace Festival-Brazil sponsored several social impact projects in Gama, a satellite city of the capital, Brasilia.
Volunteers planted 150 trees and cleaned ten green areas and public squares. They also collected food to send to Santa Catarina's disaster area. A hundred volunteers had a great time working together for the sake of others, cleaning and caring for the environment.
To celebrate peace, the activities concluded with an ecumenical service, jointly led by a Catholic priest and an evangelical pastor. This event was done in the spirit of the Global Peace Festival, and more projects are planned.
