International Children's Day Celebrated in Tajikistan

Dushanbe, Tajikistan - On June 1, the Tajik branch of the Universal Peace Federation held a meeting of Ambassadors for Peace dedicated to the anniversary of the establishment of the International Children's Day. Approximately 20 people were present.
A brief introduction was made by Dr. Sayfullo Sadulloevich Safarov, Deputy Director of the Strategic Research Center of the Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and Chairman of Peace Council. In his speech he warmly introduced the new UPF Secretary General, Mr. Feodorov Alexander, to the Ambassadors for Peace. Following this introduction, Mr. Feodorov welcomed everyone to the event and expressed a desire to work together more closely.
Than a speech about the history of the International Children's Day was read, and Ambassadors for Peace introduced themselves and talked about how they are working for the wellbeing of children. Some mentioned that there are four times more children than adults in Tajikistan and that caring for children is a priority. Also, Ambassadors for Peace reported that they organized humanitarian help for people in Kulyaby and other regions in the south of the country that were destroyed by flooding on May 7.
Two candidates for appointment as Ambassadors for Peace were present – one is a leader of a large women’s group and another is a trade union leader and former Minister of Labor.
Ambassadors for Peace spoke favorably about the Universal Peace Federation and its founders and called for close cooperation. Agreement was reached to hold meetings quarterly. The Secretary General proposed inviting speakers from different countries for round table discussions and conferences and introducing to the materials from the International Educational Foundation to young people.
In order to remind Ambassadors for Peace about their role, a booklet was given to them along with recent issues of the UPF magazine. The meeting ended with a group photo. Everyone left with warm feelings and a desire to fulfill their role as Ambassadors for Peace.
Note: The World Conference for the Well-being of Children in Geneva, Switzerland in 1925 proclaimed June 1 as the International Children's Day. Special programs are held on this date each year in many Eurasian countries. The UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959.
1-го июня 2010 года состоялась встреча послов мира таджикского отделения ФВМ посвященная празднованию 60-летия международного дня защиты детей. Около 20 человек собралось на встречу. Встречу открыл с приветствия г-н Сафаров, председатель совета мира. В своем выступлении он тепло представил нового генерального секретаря всем послам мира. Затем последовала приветственная речь самого генерального секретаря г-на Федорова, который поприветствовал всех присутствовавших и выразил надежду на более близкую работу в будущем. После была зачитана речь об истории учреждения международного дня защиты детей. Послы мира по International Day for Protecting Children очереди представились и рассказали о своей работе в свете отмечаемого дня. Говорили о том, что детское население Таджикистана в 4 раза превышает взрослое и естественно, что работа с детьми является приоритетным направлением. Так же послы рассказали о своей работе по помощи семьям, пострадавшим от недавних наводнений в Кулябе и других районах. На встрече так же присутствовали 2 кандидата в послы мира – председатель профсоюзов, бывший министр труда и лидер большой женской организации. Послы мира очень тепло отзывались об ФВМ, ее основателях и предлагали работать более сплоченно. Было достигнуто соглашение встречаться ежеквартально. Генеральный секретарь предложил приглашать иностранных гостей во время проведения круглых столов и конференций и проводить работу с молодежью, знакомя их с материалами МФО. Чтобы напомнить послам мира об их миссии были розданы брошюры «Послы Мира» и последние номера журнала ФВМ. Встреча успешно была завершена групповым фото. Участники разошлись с теплым чувством и решимостью выполнять роль послов мира.
