World AIDS Day Commemorated at Estonia High School

On the occasion of World AIDS Day, Dec. 1, 2010, UPF-Estonia organized an event in a rural high school. Johann Hinterleitner, chair of UPF-Estonia, introduced UPF and its support of specific UN initiatives.
Then Reet Reinart, a young Ambassador for Peace, gave a presentation on the topic "From Condoms to Values." Reet had spent half a year in Uganda in 2008, where she also studied the government program to combat HIV/AIDS. Her presentation was well received, since the values she promotes are obvious (although often forgotten or neglected). She stressed the importance of honest relationships, where men and women behave in a responsible way. She emphasized especially the value and importance of faithfulness and responsibility in relationships between young men and women.
Most of the pupils from the 10th, 11th and 12th grades participated in the program.
Note: World AIDS Day, observed December 1 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. Government and health officials often observe the event with speeches or forums on topics related to AIDS.
