Chisinau, Moldova - UPF-Moldova participated as co-organizer together with other national and international NGOs in an international conference “Migration and Strengthening Intercultural Dialogue” hosted by the Academy of Sciences High School in Chisinau on March 1, 2014.
The conference included a plenary session attended by more than 80 students, teachers, NGO representatives and academics.

On the 22nd anniversary of Moldova’s membership in the UN (March 1, 1992), students from 11 high schools participated in a simulation of at UN General Assembly session on the theme of Migration and Intercultural Dialogue with a special focus on Moldova. Each high school team chose to represent and express their views on migration, its impact and ways to strengthen intercultural dialogue on behalf of different nations including the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Germany, USA, Canada, Afghanistan, France, Russia, and others.
The second part of the conference consisted of two break-out sessions during which teachers, students and young researchers from different institutions shared their findings and experiences on two themes: . Section I: ”Migration and Problems of Education” and Section II: ”Migration and Possibilities for Strengthening Intercultural Dialogue.”
The next event, to be held in September, will follow the same pattern and will feature a simulation of a UN session on the theme of Interreligious Dialogue and Culture of Peace.
