Bogota, Colombia - Prayers of thanksgiving for water from several faiths marked UN World Water Day, March 22, 2014, in Teusaquillo, Bogota.
{besps}images/ftp_uploads/2014/colombia/5793{/besps}To generate more awareness of the use and care of this vital liquid, environmental activists have been promoting a "Sing to the Water" journey, which is led in Colombia by Hector Buitrago, a member of the famous rock ban Aterciopelados (winners of two Grammy Awards).
The following religious leaders led prayers in support of the Sing to the Water program:
Mgsr. Jimy Bula, bishop of the Old-Catholic Church.
Mr. William Rodriguez, from the Family Federation for World Peace
Monk Dairen Jacome, from the Soto Zen Colombia Community.
Mr. Diego Amaature, from Ahlul Bayt Colombia Islamic Cultural House.
Rabbi Richard Gamboa, Manhig of Shéggel and General Secretary of the Colombian Assembly of Religions and Spiritualities
In his message for World Water Day 2014, UN Secretary-General Bn Ki-moon said, "On World Water Day, let us pledge to develop the policies needed to ensure that sustainable water and energy are secured for the many and not just the few."
