International Day of Yoga Celebrated in Peru

Lima, Peru—UPF-Peru and the Gran Fraternidad Universal (GFU; Universal Great Brotherhood), a UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) non-governmental organization, held a celebration of the UN International Day of Yoga 2016 at the GFU’s headquarters in Lima on June 21, 2016.
The program began with the presentation of a video about Yoga Day. Then, UPF-Peru Vice President, Gen. Hector Jhon Caro, spoke about the significance of this day.
Thereafter, members of the GFU demonstrated yoga asanas, or poses.
Kishore Gupta, president of the Geeta Ashran temple in Lima and an Ambassador of Peace, then talked about the importance of this day of celebration and the value of practicing yoga.
A musical performance was given by a member of the GFU, who played several songs with an electronic organ.
The celebration concluded with closing remarks made by the President of the GFU, Mr. David Ruiz, who thanked UPF-Peru for co-organizing the event, as well as expressed his gratitude to the Ambassadors for Peace who attended it.
