San Salvador de Jujuy, Argentina—UPF-Argentina gave certificates of appreciation to environmental and peace activists at Macedonio Graz House on August 24, 2019, in coordination with the AVES Foundation (Environment, Life, Education, Sustainability). The activists were being honored for planting trees in support of the campaign “Let’s Plant Trees: Let’s Sow Peace.” The venue was in Jujuy Province, located in the extreme northwest of Argentina at the border with Bolivia.
We gave a special acknowledgment to Ada Estela Aybar, Delia Graciela de Aramayo, and Amalia Teresa Cano from AVES Foundation for their outstanding work for a peace culture through education, protection of life, harmony with the environment, and sustainable holistic development. We recognized the people working with the Direction of Green Spaces of the San Salvador Municipality “for their generous donation of plants and trees, and their valuable contribution to environmental protection and ecological awareness.” Also honored was Mr. Sebastián Sánchez de Bustamante, coordinator of the Cultural Center Macedonio Graz, for collaborating in the event. The certificates were given by Carlos Varga and Miguel Werner, director and secretary general, respectively, of UPF-Argentina.
On the occasion, we also gave trees to continue with the campaign. It is worth remembering this campaign began in June 2018 in San Vicente (Buenos Aires Province) and expanded to other cities in Argentina and other countries. Through this initiative, we seek to raise awareness of environmental protection and peace, promoted by the literary-ecological program “Y Volverán a Ser Árboles,” directed by the Ambassadors for Peace Esteban Fauret and Amalia Daibes, as well as UPF-Argentina.
