Accra, Ghana - The Universal Peace Federation of Ghana held a memorial ceremony on May 5 for Ambassadors for Peace who recently passed to the spiritual world.
Volta Region, Ghana - We traveled four hours from Accra to the Volta Region on the border between Ghana and Togo to appoint two new Ambassadors for Peace, a physician and a traditional ruler.
We all have a duty to make religious extremism unattractive, prevent it, and reject stereotyping of national, religious, or ethnic groups associated with violence while empowering moderates and promoting genuine brotherhood. World leaders should be committed and united in condemning and preventing the use of violence in the name of religious faiths or ideologies, not only within our communities but in the world at large.

Accra, Ghana - One Sunday morning, I received a call from an organization bringing together students to dialogue and bring reconciliation especially within the Northern Sector of Ghana (a conflict-prone zone). This led to an invitation to participate in the Peace and Reconciliation Process in the Northern Sector and establish UPF in the private universities in Ghana.
Accra, Ghana - Letters were sent to Ambassadors for Peace from various religions and religious bodies inviting them to participate in an interreligious forum on the UN International Day of Peace, September 21 focusing on the proposal to establish an interreligious council at the United Nations.
Amsterdam, Netherlands - An Africa Day evening on May 28 featured African cuisine and stories about building relationships among European and African youth through Partnership Ghana and Youth Service Initiative.
New York, United States - In a speech delivered at the New York City celebration of Africa Day, May 25, hosted by the African Union in partnership with the Universal Peace Federation, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said that peace and sustainable development in Africa was one of the world body’s top priorities. Tamale, Ghana - In the conflict zone of northern Ghana, UPF and Religious Youth Service organized a youth seminar on July 6 and peace rally on July 8, 2010, in coordination with the Community Partnership for Youth and Women Development.
Kumasi, Ghana - On the annual day of celebration, many people gathered to pay homage to Ashanti King Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The President of the Council of Chiefs described the peacebuilding work of UPF, and an Ambassador for Peace certificate was presented to the king.
Kumasi, Ghana - The headmaster of a senior high school in Kumasi, capital of the Ashanti region in central Ghana, read the UPF quarterly journals for three years and contacted headquarters expressing interest in starting a chapter of the Universal Peace Federation in his region. In consultation with the new national Secretary General, he organized a peace rally chaired by the president of the Ashanti Council of Chiefs.

Asofa, Ghana – Kerim Tseney was honored by the management and directorate of a Ghanaian NGO - Peoples Environment Culture and Tourism (PECAT) to give a talk titled "The Role of RYS in Community Development" during the launching of the "Green and Clean Initiative," at Harlem International School Complex, in Asofa, a suburb of Accra.
Elubo, Ghana - By the conclusion of a Religious Youth Service project March 21-April 3, 2008, that included building a canteen for students at a school in Elubo, American and European volunteers had learned to sing local songs including the traditional national anthem in the vernacular - "Yen Ara Ya Asase Ni."
Ghana – Four years after a Religious Youth Service project at the Wieja Leprosarium and Pantang psychiatric hospital in Ghana, RYS received reports that other religious bodies and NGOs are continuing the tradition of service by visiting and interacting with the patients there.
To communicate the peace message, UPF-Ghana organized rallies in four key cities: Ho, Koforidua, Kumasi, and Takoradi.
The Religious Youth Service has been active in Ghana since 1992, so during the January 13 –25, 2004 project the focus was on participants from Accra, the capital. Thirty-five participants from four nations id cleaning and offered personal care to hospital patients.
