Durham, North Carolina, USA - A statewide UPF program titled “The New Era of Women Leadership” was held on April 28 at the Lovin’ Life Ministries center in Durham, North Carolina. It aimed to raise awareness of human-rights violations in Japan, Liberia, and the United States.
Washington, DC, USA - The Washington Times Beech conference room was the venue for over 70 guests from the diplomatic corps and the private sector for the commemoration of International Women’s Day on March 27 invited by UPF-DC International Office and co-sponsors The Leadership Council for Human Rights and The Washington Times Foundation.
New York, USA - In parallel and side events during the 56th Session of the UN's Commission on the Status of Women in February and March 2012, UPF representatives emphasized strengthening the family and combating human trafficking.
UN Headquarters, New York - The Permanent Mission of Iraq hosted a luncheon on March 5, 2012 with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as keynote speaker on the theme of “The Role of the Secretary-General and the UN in the Empowerment of Women.”
Washington, DC, USA - Commemorating World Interfaith Harmony Week, UPF-DC held a dinner for distinguished speakers at The Washington Times on February 16 entitled: “Common Ground for the Common Good.” Nearly 100 guests from the diplomatic, NGO, religious, and civic communities listened in rapt attention to four distinguished speakers. Mrs. Tomiko Duggan, Director of the UPF Office of Embassy Relations, introduced the video of current UPF programs and Mr. Thomas McDevitt, president of The Washington Times, greeted the audience.
New York, USA - The Spiritual Council for Global Concerns Working Group of the NGO Committee on Spirituality, Values and Global Concerns (CSVGC-NY) at the UN held a conference on “The Price of Violence and Dividends in Healing the Wounds of History” at the Nigeria House, on Feb. 15, 2012.
