I place great importance on close ties between the United Nations, the African Union and the continent's regional and sub-regional organizations. These cover an increasingly broad range of activities – from peacekeeping and mediation to peacebuilding, electoral assistance and the rule of law; from economic and social empowerment to sustainable development.
Washington DC, USA - A forum on the Global Day of Parents took place at The Washington Times on June 11. Speakers included Dr. Rosa Rai Djalal, President of the Muslim Women's Association and wife of the Ambassador of Indonesia, and H.E. Gilbert Galanxhi, Ambassador of Albania.
New York, USA - UN diplomats and members of the NGO community assembled on June 4, 2013 in a delegates' dining room for the first annual observance of the UN Global Day of Parents.

Jerusalem, Israel - The Middle East Peace Initiative pilgrims walked arm in arm on May 18, 2013, through the streets of the Old City of Jerusalem chanting, “Peace, Shalom, Salaam Alaikum. Let’s Bring Peace to the Middle East!”

United Nations, New York - A celebration of World Interfaith Harmony Week took place at the UN General Assembly on Feb. 14, 2013. The theme was "United for a Culture of Peace through Interfaith Harmony."
Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - The Salt Lake City Interfaith Roundtable officially kicked off Interfaith Month 2013 with a special breakfast meeting on January 31 at the Salt Lake Downtown Marriott Hotel, which also recognized the annual World Interfaith Harmony Week, February 1-7.
Bali, Indonesia - UPF staff participated in a World Ecological Safety Assembly in Bali, Indonesia, Dec. 10-12, 2012, joining 500 participants representing politics, governments, NGOs, science, media and academe.
Washington DC, USA - UPF's Office of Embassy Relations in Washington DC concluded its programs for the year with a seminar on December 8 to introduce the core values and teachings of Rev. Sun Myung Moon, Founder of UPF. This seminar was the first presentation in an educational series that will continue into the new year.
New York, USA - The Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations hosted a Japanese Tea Ceremony organized by staff of UPF's Office of UN Relations on Nov. 27, 2012.
New York, USA - Amb. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, president of the 66th Session of the UN General Asembly, received UPF's prestigious Leadership and Good Governance Award at a special Award Ceremony in New York Nov. 15, 2012.
