Religious Youth Service Alumni Lead Service Programs in Southern Honduras

Two alumni of Religious Youth Service organized programs for middle school students in Choluteca, Honduras June 20-21, 2008, that included HIV/AIDS prevention education and planting 300 trees to counter deforestation.
RYS Participants Serve the Small Community of Colonia Nueva Suyapa

Colonia Nueva Suyapa, Honduras – RYS participants undertook a project including landscaping, construction, painting and furnishing of a new kitchen in a community center, as well as supervising free-time activities for the children of the community of Colonia Nueva Suyapa, in the suburbs of Tegucigalpa. The kitchen will be used by an education center for local children.

Religious Youth Service Holds Thirteenth Friendship Americas Project in Three Countries

Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras—RYS 2002 held the Thirteenth Friendship Americas Project in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. This 3 week journey began in Guatemala City where staff and 42 participants representing 16 countries and diverse religious traditions, took on a challenge whose outcome was a strong community that explicitly valued full and free communication, recognized cultural and social differences as strengths, and embraced diversity among its members.
