Ambassadors for Peace serve on UPF's Presiding Council and Global Peace Council. Current members of the Presiding Council are listed below.
Presiding Council
The Presiding Council is the primary advisory body committed to advancing the core principles of the Universal Peace Federation. Members are elected for a period of two years. The Chairman of the UPF also serves as Chair of the Presiding Council.
Dr. Thomas G. Walsh, Chair
Dr. Thomas Walsh is the Chairman of the Universal Peace Federation. With academic training in the field of religion, he earned his Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University. He has been a teacher, author, and editor with specialization in areas of interfaith, religious studies, peace studies, philosophy. and social theory. He serves on the International Council of the World Association of Non-Governmental Organizations and on the board of directors of the International Coalition for Religious Freedom. He has contributed to and edited more than 20 books related to interfaith, peacebuilding, and renewal of the United Nations; among these volumes are Renewing the United Nations and Building a Culture of Peace and The Millennium Declaration of the United Nations: A Response from Civil Society.
Mr. Thomas McDevitt
Mr. Thomas McDevitt is the President of Universal Peace Federation and serves as the chairman of The Washington Times and the company’s Board of Directors. Having joined The Washington Times in 1994, he held positions of president, vice-president, marketing director, general manager of the magazine division and business director of the National Weekly Edition.
Dr. Tageldin Hamad
Dr. Tageldin Hamad is Vice President of Universal Peace Federation International and Director of the UPF Office for UN and International Affairs. He is also Secretary General of the World Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (WANGO). He served as Secretary of the Executive Committee of DPI-NGOs at the United Nations and was the Organizing Chair for the Summit of World Muslim Leaders conferences held in Jakarta and London.
Hon. Jose de Venecia, Jr.
The Hon. Jose de Venecia, Jr., served five terms as Speaker of the Philippine House of Representatives from 1992 to 2007. He served as the Vice President of the Christian Democrats International as well as Chairman of the CDI Asia Pacific and is Chairman of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties. As Speaker of the House of Representatives, de Venecia spearheaded the proposal to create an interreligious council in the United Nations.
Rt. Hon. Hamilton Green
Rt. Hon. Hamilton Green served as Prime Minister of Guyana from 1985-1992 and as Mayor of Georgetown, the capital city of Guyana, from 1994 to 1995 and from 1997 to the present. He was first elected to the Guyanese Parliament in 1968 and held a number of Ministerial portfolios during his long and distinguished career. Rt. Hon. Green was educated at St. Stanislaus and Queens College. He is a fitness enthusiast, plays the piano, and reads history and philosophy in his spare time.
Sra. Graciela Rompani de Pacheco
The widow of Jorge Pacheco Areco, who was president of Uruguay from 1967 to 1972, Sra. Graciela Rompani de Pacheco is a businesswoman with training in administration and marketing. She is president and founder of Ventura, a non-profit association that administers three kindergartens in the most disadvantaged zones around Montevideo, and president of Ventura Grameen, which gives microcredits to women in the poorest neighborhoods. A graduate of the School of Social Services, she is founder and director of the Alvarez Caldeyro Barcia Foundation, an institution that seeks to improve the health of poor mothers and children; it is connected to the Pereira Rossell Hospital, where one in six Uruguayans are born. She is president of Embajada de Mujeres de America and vice president of Fundación Sino-Uruguay.
H.E. Stanislav Shushkevich
H.E. Stanislav Shushkevich was President of the Republic of Belarus from 1991 to 1994. He is Director of the Center for Political and Economic Studies at the European Humanitarian University in Minsk and Chairman of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party. Dr. Shushkevich served his nation as a political leader since 1990, when he was elected a Deputy and later First Vice Chairman of the Parliament. The following year he was elected Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Belarus. A physicist, Dr. Shushkevich was Senior Engineer and Head of Research and Development Laboratories at the Minsk Radio Plant and the Belarusian State University. He also served as Vice Rector and Head of the Nuclear Physics Department at the Belarusian State University.
H.E. Johnson Toribiong
H.E. Johnson Toribiong was born in Airai, Palau, in 1946. He is a former President of Palau (2009-2013). He studied at the University of Washington. Before becoming president he served as Palau's ambassador to Taiwan.

Universal Peace Federation (UPF), an international and interreligious network of individuals and organizations, including representatives from religion, government, civil society and the private sector, is dedicated to achieving world peace. An NGO in general consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, UPF supports the work of the United Nations, particularly in the areas of interfaith peacebuilding, peace education, and the strengthening of marriage and family.

International Government Organizations (IGO)
African Union
UPF has a partnership with the African Union in the celebration of Africa Day in New York City and a Memorandum of Understanding related to a tsetse fly eradication campaign.
CENSAD
CENSAD works towards the establishment of a global Economic Union based on the implementation of a community development plan that complements the local development plans of member States and which comprises the various fields of a sustained socio-economic development: agriculture, industry, energy, social, culture, health.
United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC)
UPF has a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations to reinforce cooperation in continuing to promote intercultural dialogue, peace and security.
UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)
UPF is an NGO in General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
Non-Government Organizations (NGO)
AL-Liqa' Center: Religious & Heritage Studies in the Holy Land
This Center, which was established in 1982 by Palestinian Muslim and Christian academic and religious leaders, has created a lively dialogue and has fostered understanding between the people of these two religions, Christianity and Islam, and between them and Judaism.
Asian Vision Institute (Cambodia)
The Asian Vision Institute is an independent think tank based in Cambodia that strives to impact positive changes through knowledge co-creation and multi-stakeholder partnerships and to build peaceful, inclusive, adapting, resilient and sustainable societies in Asia through promoting Asian wisdom and perspective and the values of humanity, peace and cultural diversity.
Coalition of Faith-Based Organizations; Spirituality and Justice Initiative
The FBO Coalition is a broadly-based multi-faith coalition of leading representatives of the world’s great religious traditions, along with interfaith leaders, academics, and practitioners actively engaged in various areas of criminal justice and crime prevention.
Global Citizen Forum
UPF has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Global Citizen Forum with a mutual commitment to cooperate to promote peace and human development.
Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP)
UPF signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GTCP), an NGO that shares many of the same goals and objectives as UPF, such as peace and tolerance, inclusiveness, and respect for each other's mandate and enhance complementary.
Global Forum on Human Settlements
The Global Forum on Human Settlements, an NGO in Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC, convenes an annual conference of the Global Forum on Human Settlements Former UN Under-Secretary-General Amb. Anwarul K. Chowdhury serves as the Chairman. UPF works in collaboration with GFHS to support and promote the work of the United Nations and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
International Institute for Tolerance
The International Institute for Tolerance is a peace organization founded by H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. UPF works in collaboration with the Institute to support and promote initiatives such as the World Tolerance Summit.
