In order to achieve the goals of development, all relevant actors must be included; every link in the development process must be consulted. Tolerance and solidarity must replace discrimination and lack of understanding. Governments have the obligation and responsibility to create and sustain a peaceful world with sufficient opportunities for the next generations.

Only through relationship can the virtues of love, peace, tolerance, harmony, compassion can exist. Everything is based on relationships.

Malaysia's Department of Unity and National Integration under the Prime Minister’s Office has been rendering financial, material, and moral support to more than 14 Religious Youth Service projects carried out under the banner of UPF-Malaysia. These inter-religious projects which teach our young people to work together in harmony for the sake of the nation help the government achieve its goal of One Malaysia.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques assembled an international conference in Mecca for intercultural and interreligious dialogue and a second conference in Madrid, attended by representatives from many countries. He appealed to the United Nations to support and consolidate interreligious and intercultural dialogue and establish a permanent committee to take responsibility for the dialogue.

The Korean peninsula issue is most interesting, and the possible developments are listed, including maintaining the status quo. But recalling 1994, let us remember the saying: “You can never tell whether a prophecy will hit or miss.” Korean history indicates that they never surrender to a dictator or aggressor, and no one can predict whether the people in the NK would revolt in some way and become more a more democratic and free society.

If people of different nations and religions do not hold grudges against each other, there will be no cause for conflicts and revenge. There will be no need for wars and acts of terror that cause people to hate one another.

All belief systems in the world teach us that love is essential for a happy life and for being at peace with the world. If individuals ground their life by internalizing a belief system based on love, their leaders will most probably have the same values in their life. Moreover, when people’s characters are shaped by love and tolerance, it will bring about peace and lead to the happiness of humanity.

Terrorism negates the most important right: the right to life. It defies any and all rights and freedoms, breeds fear and hatred, and hampers efforts to reform and improve our world. All of our efforts to revive and develop the global economy will be in vain if we do not vanquish terrorism, extremism, and intolerance.
