T. Walsh: Peace and Security in Multicultural Societies
- Saturday, April 7, 2012
Due to immigration, transportation, and communications we are increasingly exposed to the great plurality of cultures, nationalities, religions, and political ideologies that make up our world, and even our local communities. It is important that we digest this plurality, and even affirm it, while at the same time avoiding the slide into a cultural and moral relativism that abandons the quest for truth, absolute values, justice, and peace.

Platzer and Laurent: Migration Trends and Integration Strategy in Austria
- Saturday, April 7, 2012
Many countries all over the world face challenges when it comes to integration policies and strategies. Many countries do make the mistake to regard integration as a one-way process, meaning that migrants have to assimilate to the culture of the country of destination. But slowly, many people understand that it is a mutual process and that people do have to adapt to a new culture and maybe new laws but that locals also have to welcome newcomers and let them be a part of their lives. This is the only way true integration can be achieved successfully, and hopefully Austria is on the right track.

We tell our story in a variety of formats: PowerPoint presentations, booklets (both printed and downloadable pdf files), videos, and photos. Some are in Spanish, French, Arabic, and other languages. In addition, our electronic materials are available from a variety of social media sites as well as upf.org. We encourage you to make use of social media when possible as this will help enhance UPF's online profile.
Our most up-to-date PowerPoint presentations are on Slideshare in English, French, and Spanish. You can view them without an account, but in order to download them you will need to create your own free account. Some chapters are building an impressive Slideshare presence. You may also find useful presentations on related topics by other authors.
PowerPoints & Booklets: These include PowerPoint presentations and electronic versions of report booklets, PR materials, and annual reports, available in low-resolution (preview) for viewing and high-resolution (press) for printing.
Video & Audio: Our videos can be found at YouTube. Some of them can be downloaded in low resolution from that site. To download high-resolution and editable files, use the audio and video tabs below. A podcast collection is under construction.
Graphic Files: Source files of banners, signs, and fliers for special events will be available here; these can be customized by using the appropriate software (Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator). High-resolution press pdfs and Adobe InDesign files of our magazine, UPF Today, which can be edited using Adobe InDesign. For example, the text can be translated and substituted for the English text, and photos can be customized for local audiences.
Photos: Our picasa albums contain photos of selected events and programs. Follow Picasa directions to download photos and albums.
UPF PowerPoint presentations can be found on Slideshare in English, French, and Spanish. (Scroll down the page to see dozens of presentations in English and Spanish.)

C.S. Yong: Address to International Leadership Conference in Mindanao
- Thursday, March 29, 2012
A leader with the heart of a parent is someone who sacrifices unconditionally. This is the nature of a parent, wanting to give, and give, and give, and still trying to give more.
-
T. Walsh: Address to International Leadership Conference in Mindanao
- Thursday, March 29, 2012
Mindanao is often in the news as a place of tension and conflict, and as a place where religious differences between Muslims and Christians as well as ethnic differences contribute to the tensions.

M.N. Masheke: Africa, Which Way Forward?
- Wednesday, March 7, 2012
I hasten to welcome my fellow participants and most distinguished dignitaries from abroad and our great country Zambia. I count it a singular honour and privilege in order to be part of you in this conference and to be one of the speakers on this topic: “Africa which way forward?”

A. Betancourt: The Arab Spring Is Not Lost. What Do the People Need?
- Wednesday, February 29, 2012
Social structures await to be drawn up. Resources need to be found. But the fundamental purpose of the Arab Spring was to give people voice, and in democracies that voice is in the vote, and safeguarded in the nation’s constitution. If any meaningful group is marginalized in the process, then the Arab Spring and, in truth, Arab awakening, will only find yet another dawn to be awakened.

L.N. Cabactulan: The Price of Violence and the Dividends in Healing the Wounds of History
- Wednesday, February 15, 2012
Violence can be defined as the deprivation of inalienable rights that define one's humanity. As a function of its impact on individuals and societies, violence can also be defined as inaction or silence. I would submit that violence is a counter value that must be addressed by bringing to bear the values we hold dear.

U.J. Ogwu: The Price of Violence and Dividends in Healing the Wounds of History
- Wednesday, February 15, 2012
There have been cases of conflict involving Nigerians of differing regional, tribal, and religious backgrounds. While the majority of Nigerians are peace-loving people, there are those who stimulate violence, often to serve their own interests.
-
E. Borris: Schools of Forgiveness and Reconciliation
- Wednesday, February 15, 2012
The objective of the "Schools of Forgiveness and Reconciliation" is to create communities of peace that heal the wounds of conflict and encourage reconciliation. The premise behind the training program is that if victims do not heal from their psychological wounds, they have a higher likelihood of becoming future perpetrators of crime. Therefore, the first part of the program supports people in their healing process by giving them the opportunity to tell their stories, transform their narratives, and begin a healing process.

D.W.T. Brattston: No 'Just War' in Early Christian Ethics
- Tuesday, February 7, 2012
All Christians before the mass apostasy of A.D. 249-251 who wrote on Christian participation in war opposed it on ethical grounds.
