Berlin, Germany - The first conference of the German National Peace Council in 2011 ended with an appeal to the German Bundestag to finally ratify the 2003 UN Convention against Corruption: “We appeal to the members of parliament to ratify the UN Convention against Corruption from 2003, thus enabling the country to be rated much lower in the Corruption Perception Index than is the case now.”

Toronto, Canada - Dr. Hussein Auckberaullee opened the monthly meeting of UPF-Toronto by expressing his deep sadness over the tsunami which hit Japan resulting in the deaths of thousands of people. People held hands and stood in silence to show solidarity with the people of Japan who are facing this dreadful challenge.

Valletta, Malta - UPF Ambassador for Peace Mrs. Sanaa El-Nahhal, president of the Arabic Culture Information Society in Malta, is collecting supplies for people stranded by the upheavals in Libya. A bishop of the Catholic Church has proposed that donations at Ash Wednesday services be used to offer humanitarian aid to people on Libya's borders.

Yekaterinburg and Ufa, Russia - Youth Ambassadors for Peace in Yekaterinburg have been promoting the monthly "Run Hour" sports initiative since 2008. Since then the project has spread to more cities in the Urals, and athletes in Ufa, the capital of the Bashkir Republic of the Russian Federation, took the program over.

Jakarta, Indonesia - UPF Indonesia's character education programs are gaining widespread support. Though schools used have to moral education classes in the past, these days such classes have generally been removed from the curriculum and teachers are struggling how to implement moral or character education in their classrooms.
