UPF organizes programs that help build understanding, respect and cooperation among people of different faiths.

Toronto, Canada - Devotional music and interfaith prayers at UPF-Canada's annual Interreligious and Multicultural Family Festival set the atmosphere for reflections about the need to treat people from different religions and cultures with respect and compassion.

Montreal, Canada - UPF-Montreal's monthly interfaith forum on Dec. 10, 2009, at the Imani Family and Full Gospel Church, addressed the topic of "Engagement: The Next Interfaith Responsibility."

Melbourne, Australia - UPF presentations were delivered at the the Parliament of the World’s Religions, the largest interfaith gathering to be held during 2009. The international interfaith assembly brings together over 8,000 people from around the world.

Nuremberg, Germany - A recent UPF conference on the topic of ‘Basic Values for a Peaceful Society’ invited 38 participants from Germany’s Christian, Buddhist, Islamic, and Unificationist communities to reflect on the underlying principles of peace appropriate to a multicultural and democratic society such as Germany.

Cagayan de Oro, Philippines - The Mindanao Peace Symposium was the first time that Pentecostal pastors dealt directly with Muslim leaders on issues of peace, cooperation, and mutual understanding. A coalition of eight sponsors, including government, NGOs, and religious organizations, brought together participants under the banner of “Peace Development through Inter-Religious Cooperation in Mindanao."

A recording of the Peace Cantata, Halelu—Songs of David, written by Israeli vocalist David D'Or and American conductor David Eaton, is available for purchase. The collaboration grew out of a 2004 Middle East Peace Initiative concert in Jerusalem the featured music from various cultures and religions.

Dhaka, Bangladesh - “The present world is torn by interreligious and intercultural conflicts,” noted the President of Bangladesh, M. Zillur Rahman, as he inaugurated the first International Conference on Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue at the University of Dhaka.

Toronto, Canada - The ongoing civil strife in Sri Lanka has spilled over into the Sri Lankan community in Canada. In the Toronto area, UPF is reaching out to the Sinhalese and Tamil Sri Lankans of various faiths to narrow the communications gap and help establish common understandings among them, in the hopes that this can have a positive influence on developments in their home country.

Mindanao, Philippines - The thirty-year-old conflict in Mindanao province in the Philippines has never commanded the world’s attention, despite the massive scale of violence and loss of life. Since 1969, when the fighting between Muslim separatists and the armed forces began under the Marcos regime, the Mindanao conflict has left 160,000 dead and displaced some two million people.
