St. Petersburg, Russia - UPF-Russia representative Tatyana Krasnosumova and Ambassador for Peace Nataliya Dolidze participated in a roundtable discussion on "Culture and Religion: Women's Vision" in St. Petersburg. The event, which was organized by the Scientific and Methodological Council for Religious and Societal Knowledge for the city of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad province, took place on March 26, 2014, in the small conference hall of the Oktyabrskaya Hotel.
The keynote address was delivered by Mikhail Smirnov, co-chair of the Scientific and Methodological Council.
Participants listened to overviews of the status and role of women in contemporary religious societies. Nadezhda Orlova, Ph.D., a professor at the Institute of Philosophy, St. Petersburg State University, and a member of the International Network of Women Philosophers, and Zeinab Nesterova, a teacher at the “Source” Islamic Cultural Center, shared their experience in research and education on issues of culture and religion.
Representatives of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Church of Scientology and the Society of Vedic Aryans also took part. During the roundtable, the participants discussed the reports and shared their opinions and visions of the situation.
