A reason why many nations are coming into conflict with the United States deals with a loss of moral authority. In short, this means we are not attending to international relations in a manner supportive of reconciliation.

For the last month the eyes of the world have been on Barack Obama, President-elect of the United States, and his preparations to take office. The United Nations, having the goal of world peace, made development a priority and created the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in 1965. The UNDP conducted development programs and research worldwide for several decades; its expertise commands respect and humility. Today if you go to the Nairobi River, you don’t even want to touch the water, never mind the fish. The fish are not there. Therefore, the Universal Peace Federation project mobilizing young people to clean the Nairobi River was fantastic. It was a very good idea because young people own the activity. They know the future belongs to the young people, and they know that unless they do something now to clean the river and make sure it remains clean, they have no future. Therefore, this was a very important thing in the lives of young people and the life of Kenya as a whole.
